My fire tool sets are based on the tools I use in the forge every day. The shovel, rake, and poker are integral to the management of a coal fire, my preferred (and a historically accurate) method of heating iron. Making a set of these tools and their rack for the home fireplace offers the opportunity to try an almost unlimited number of variations to design and finish without altering overall functionality, and I enjoy coming up with new ways to get the job done for each set I make, without sacrificing utility.
